Physical Education - Life Orientation

The official programme is divided into two phases :

The Foundation Phase (Grades 1 – 3) course is intricately inter-woven with the Perceptual Training Programme. Development and evaluation of aspects such as Balance, Ball Skills, Body in Space and Hand/Foot/Eye Co-ordination are fundamental to this section.

The Senior Primary (Grades 4 – 7) The major components covered are games, athletics and sporting codes. The heading "games" includes dancing. A new heading "Health and Beauty" demonstrates the values and attitudes necessary for a healthy and balanced lifestyle. It is essential for learners to change into their white shorts and house t-shirts before each PE class.

Each one hour session includes a warm-up activity, structural exercises, fitness training and participation in the main theme of the week.
